a) Anonymous Posts

  • Content Only: When you publish an anonymous post, we collect only the text you submit.
  • No Identifiers: We do not associate IP addresses, device fingerprints, or other identifiers with anonymous posts.

b) Registered Accounts

If you choose to create an account, we collect:

  • Username: Chosen by you and visible to other users.
  • Email Address: Used for account recovery or important communications.
  • Password: Stored in encrypted form and not visible to our staff.
  • Registration Date: Saved for display on your profile.
  • Author Identifier: We generate an encrypted technical identifier to link your content to your account. This identifier is not visible to other users or moderators. It is used solely to:
    • Verify content ownership.
    • Enable interactive features (e.g., comments).
    • Enforce account-level moderation restrictions.

How We Use Your Data

  • Anonymous Posting: To display your content on Hint without revealing your identity.
  • Account Management: To authenticate you and send important notifications.
  • Interactive Features: To allow you to interact safely with other users.
  • Moderation: To enforce our Community Guidelines, using a combination of AI and human review.

Automated Processing and Right to Human Review

Content posted on Hint is initially analyzed by artificial intelligence to ensure compliance with our Guidelines. However, any significant decision is subject to human review, in accordance with Article 22 of the GDPR. During registration, we clearly inform users that their content will be AI-analyzed. If you are uncomfortable, you can object to such decisions or request a human review, even for errors made by the AI.

Cookies and Tracking

  • Session Cookies: We use only temporary cookies to maintain your login session and secure navigation. These cookies expire when you close your browser.
  • No Third-Party Cookies: We do not use tracking pixels or external analytics tools.

Data Retention

  • Anonymous Posts: Stored indefinitely unless you delete them or they violate our Guidelines.
  • Account Information: Retained while your account is active. If you do not log in for 12 months, we will delete your account and associated data. Upon deletion, we will keep only anonymized content.

Data Security

  • Encryption: All passwords and sensitive data are encrypted at rest.
  • HTTPS Only: Data in transit is protected via HTTPS/TLS.
  • Access Controls: Only essential automated systems have access to technical identifiers.

Sharing and Disclosure

Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party service providers (e.g., email delivery services), bound by strict confidentiality obligations.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information to comply with legal obligations or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hint. What information? It may include:

What is NOT shared:

  • Personal identifiers of anonymous posts.
  • Data not relevant to the purposes described above.

User Rights

  • Access the personal data concerning you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Object to automated data processing.

Children’s Privacy

Hint is intended for users aged 16 and over. During registration, we request your date of birth and, if false information is provided, we reserve the right to delete the account and report any legal violations. If you believe we have collected data from minors under 16, please contact us for deletion.

Moderation Action Log

We maintain a detailed log of moderation actions, including removed content, reasons, and dates. This log is accessible only to administrators to ensure transparency and accountability.

Changes to This Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy. In such case, we will change the “Last updated” date. By continuing to use Hint after changes, you accept the new terms.
